Frequently Asked Questions:

What types of therapy do you offer?

Becoming You Therapy offers individual (ages 16+) and couples therapy. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, or emotional dysregulation, sessions are personalized to meet your specific needs.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! All sessions are offered virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. This makes it easy to attend therapy from the comfort of your home—or any private space where you feel safe and supported.

What can I expect in the first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and lay the foundation for your therapy journey. We’ll discuss what’s bringing you in, explore your background, and begin identifying your goals. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sense of what working together will feel like in a supportive, collaborative space.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions typically last 53 minutes. The frequency of sessions is based on your individual needs and preferences—most clients start with weekly appointments, and we can adjust the schedule as you make progress and your goals evolve.

Do you accept insurance?

Becoming You Therapy accepts most major insurance plans and also offers a private pay option for those without coverage or who prefer to self-pay. If your plan is not accepted, you may still be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement—please contact your insurance provider to verify whether these benefits apply. A superbill can be provided upon request for you to submit directly to your insurer.

Currently accepted insurance plans include:
Health Partners, Blue Cross Blue Shield MN, Blue Cross Blue Shield Plus, United Healthcare, UMR, Optum, Surest, and Medica.

Be sure to check with your insurance carrier to confirm your specific mental health coverage, including any co-pays, deductibles, or out-of-network options.

What is your fee and payment process?

For private pay clients, session fees will be reviewed during your free consultation and are due at the time of service. If you’re using insurance, I will submit claims directly to your carrier; however, coverage can vary, so it’s important to verify your benefits—especially co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses—prior to your first session. All payments are securely processed through SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant platform with Auto-Pay enabled for convenience. You’ll receive an invoice by email before any charges are processed.

Can I cancel or reschedule a session?

Yes, you may cancel or reschedule your appointment, but please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments without prior notice will incur a late cancellation fee of $130. This policy ensures that appointment times can be offered to other clients in need of support.

How can I contact you?

There are several easy ways to get in touch with me. You’re welcome to send a text message, call directly, email,  or reach out through the SimplePractice client portal. Whether you have questions, need to schedule or reschedule an appointment, or want to follow up after a session, I strive to respond in a timely and supportive manner. Choose the method that feels most comfortable for you—I’m here to help.

Is therapy confidential?

Absolutely! Your privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance. Everything shared during sessions is kept strictly confidential, with the exception of situations where disclosure is required by law—such as concerns involving harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect, or a valid court order.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about your next steps, therapy can provide the support and clarity you need. A free 15-minute consultation offers the perfect opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the process, and see if therapy at Becoming You Therapy is the right fit for you.
